The High Five Wedding at Quaaout Lodge

We begin our adventure at Quaaout Lodge, near Chase, BC. It’s a lovely little adventure, nestled near Little Shuswap Lake. Of particular interest are the rings – all forged by the groom. He takes crafty to the next level!

And of course, the dress was perfect. Anyone who’s read this blog knows how much I like my frilly lace dresses.

The flowers were lighter, with hints of baby’s breath.

While the girls were starting makeup, the guys had different plans.

It was a cool, rainy morning. The perfect kind of morning to jump into the lake.

The boys had beers, and dried off. It was time to get ready for the ceremony.

Our groom had surprised all his groomsmen with custom-forged knives he had worked on for the last six months. Complete with leather sheathes.

I’d find out, right about now, that this was going to be a sedimental emotional wedding. I handed our groom a letter left in his room, with his name on it.

It was from his future wife.

Complete with stick man drawings of the family.

We managed to get a quick groomsman portrait, and I made my way to the girls cabin.

It was abuzz with activity. Champagne was popped, then enjoyed.

Last few touch ups of makeup, then we’d be ready to fit the dress.

The ceremony site was all set up, and guests were arriving quickly. The sun was right behind us, and a cool wind rose from the water.

And oh man, was this ceremony ever heartfelt. Kind of a roller coaster of emotion actually.

But then, a first kiss, and they were married. Here’s where you find out why I called it the high five wedding.

After the ceremony, it was time for family formals, then bridal party formals! Let’s a take a minute to admire this good looking crew.

And also this good looking crew.

I can just feel the love. It was tough grabbing this guy away. He is indeed beloved.

So we continued with formals.

And then, a formal with this important guy.

Unfortunately, this is where our adventure ends, for now. Keep in mind, this isn’t all the photos. This is a sampler, 45 of the photos taken today. There’s a full album coming out in about 3 weeks, though. We get some pretty artsy, original shots.
