Photography Lessons Round 9

I’m excited to be rolling out the 9th round of classes for Draht Photography. We’re partnering with the beautiful Caetani Centre to offer 8 exciting classes. In the past, nearly every round has sold out. People have nothing but great things to say about these classes!

I enjoy teaching these classes as much as people enjoy learning. I love seeing the results – Moms and Dad capturing precious moments they never though possible. And the cost? Less than a single mini photo session. But if you’ve read this far, you’re probably wondering – what are you going to learn? Well, here’s the lesson plan for the level 1 class.

This lesson plan is intended for people who are starting from scratch, as well as the enthusiast with a great eye. We learn things like camera modes, how to use your flash, and go to poses for anyone, anytime. Homework is straightforward and purposeful.

There are two hands on classes as well – those are photo walks. Explaining a concept is great, but it’s much better to be able to demonstrate it! With real models, we go on photo walks and talk about how to get everyone’s attention, and how to use your flash and the natural light in a way that will make your photos pop. I tell you my secrets to photographing dogs and cats.

The advanced classes are more in depth – it’s a mixture between level 2 and level 3. We talk a lot more about light – different kinds of light. What makes a pose work. Instead of going from four or five pre-made poses, you find out the secrets to how to make any pose work for any time. We talk a lot about colour theory too, and give you a head start in light room and photoshop. This class is only open to those who have taken the level one class. This is the class you should take if you’d like to take the kind of photos you see in my Instagram. I hold nothing back – every little secret I’ve learned in the past 8 years, I teach and demonstrate to you, until I’m sure you’ve got it!

Requirements for joining are an SLR. This is really important – you want to be able to change your shutter speed and aperture! There are great, inexpensive cameras from Canonand Nikon right now. You’ll learn how easy and fun it is to use these cameras to their full potential. Class sizes are limited to 20 students. This is important, as every student will need one-on-one instruction at least once. The earlier you apply the better – classes fill up fast.

You’re going to be surprised at how easy and fun photography can be as a hobby.
