A Photo Walk you won't forget
This was our second photo walk for our photography classes. Every 8 weeks, we get EVERYONE together. We tell them to bring their husbands, kids, dogs, snacks, but most importantly our cameras. We spend a lot of time in house making sure our workshops are entertaining and informative. Sometimes, though, you just have to go out for an hour or two and figure it out!
And that’s what Fiona and I do. We get everyone together, every husband and kid, and head to a gorgeous location to teach you how to make amazing prints. And they do look pretty amazing. We take photos of your family, and teach you how to use the light in a constructive way. Never bare light, try to diffuse it or get some texture in the background. Angles are important, but you have to be cognisant of where the lighting is coming from. Otherwise, how are you going to create wrapping light?
We go into split lighting as well, and how to manage the color of directional lighting. A lot of people think it’s filtering in your camera, but that’s not true. If you set your white balance to a custom balance, it becomes even easier to produce stunning photographs with accurate color rendition!
Shooting at low aperture can be tricky, but with the correct instruction, you’ll catch on in no time. What you’re looking for is to control your blur. You can use manual focus to change the distance of your plane of focus, or automatic focus and let that center focus point to do all the work for you!
