This wedding was unexpected. I had no idea I’d have such a blast, hanging out with some of the funnest people I’ve ever met. The venue was incredible, and the details, such as the flower chandelier, were like nothing I’ve seen. If you’re looking for wedding ideas, get out your notebook.
We began in Kelowna…with an amazing set of rings!
Soon, I’d learn the bride is quite the bookworm as evidenced by all the shelves lining the walls. Of course, we’d find a way to incorporate this into the photos.
And this dress….
I wasn’t sure how I’d get my perspective in the hall – the hallway is little narrow. However, with the mirror there, it’s a fun trick of the eye.
Soon, it was time to put this wedding dress to use. Everyone gathered by in the living room.
You can see why I’m such a big a fan of this dress. It looked even better on our beautiful bride.
Before long, it was time to visit the boys at Predator Ridge, to see how they were getting along. I bid my goodbyes, and set out.
We chatted for a little bit, and discussed the plan for the day. Our groom tightened his tie, and we set out. Also, look at those cufflinks.
At Kopje Bay, we made our way to the old sycamore tree for the first look. It was really cute.
I always feel really honoured to be parts of moments like these. The air was a little tense, in a good way.
He turned around, and they were both silent for a moment. I just love this look on her face.
I was speechless. I turned over my left shoulder, and it was evidenct the best man and maid of honor felt the same.
Time for some formals! I gathered everyone together and took the most proper formals you can imagine.
A week before, I had scouted out the area. I found, not far away, some fresh pink apple blossoms. I only hoped they’d be in bloom on April 28. Not only were they in bloom, but they matched the bouquet!
This is actually my favourite time, when I get to shoot a few formals and have some fun.
And it was fun! Every minute they were teasing each other, or cracking jokes. There was such a great energy in that little apple orchard that afternoon.
Soon enough, we realized that we had to head to the venue. I immediately saw a face I recognized – the Chef In Stead. No time for pleasantries, right away he showed me the smoker he had hitched to his truck.
Yup. that’s one of 6 compartments. We would eat well that day.
But already, the ceremony had begun.
Off in the distance, I could see the bride ready to walk down the aisle.
The look on his face spoke volumes.
The ceremony was brief, and heartfelt. The officiant, a judge and a family friend, performed the nuptials. You could hear the smile in her voice as she proudly conducted the ceremony.
Before long, I found myself with a beaming bride and groom. Normally, we run off to conduct formals at this time. But we’d already done formals. Dee poured these two drinks, and everyone lined up to wish the bride and the groom well.
The funny thing was that a receiving line hadn’t been planned, to the best of my knowledge. Everyone wanted to run up for handshakes and hugs, and there was no stopping them.
Right now would be a great time to talk about the decor. Look at this flower chandelier!
Everyone was drawn to it. Keep an eye on the youtube. If I manage to put up the wedding vlog tomorrow, it’ll be in it.
We all know I’m a fan of puns. How many can you spot here? Of course, it was a hit.
Between the hilarious and original puns, the food, the doughnuts, and snacks, there was never a dull moment. I met an amazing up-and-coming photographer, Roberto Simpatico. I recommend you give his instagram a look, he has some amazing stuff on there!
Unfortunately, though, this is where I’ll have to leave you.
Keep in mind, this isn’t all the photos. This is a sampler, 27 of the photos taken today. There’s a full album coming out in about 3 weeks, though. It’s a wonderful story. This is simply a sampler, a selection of a few favourites throughout the day to show you.
